Next month’s World Poker Tour World Championship series at the Las Vegas Bellagio resort will run concurrently with another WPT hosted tournament at the same Bellagio resort: a Super High Roller Event with a recorded breaking $100,000 buy-in.

The WPT Championship runs from May 14-20, and the Super High Roller Event has been scheduled for May 18-19 with the aim of attracting the big name-high rollers who are already in town for the WPT Championship.

Indeed, WPT CEO, Steve Heller, explained that running the two tournaments concomitantly will help create a real challenge and chance for the “world’s elite players” to really “show their mettle.”

The high rollers are sure to step up to the plate and meet this challenge; the $100,000 buy-in is the largest in any WPT event thus far and will certainly attract some of the biggest names in competition at WPT Championship.

In fact, Erik Seidel, who recently became the all-time leading money winner for live tournament poker after putting in some excellent displays at the NMB National Heads-Up, the LA Poker Classic’s $25k High Roller, and the Aussie Million, has already confirmed that he will be taking part in the $100k Super High Roller Event.

myBet.com to Sponsor German Handball National Team

myBet has recently struck a deal with the German Handball Federation which will see the European online sportsbook become the official sponsor of the German Handball national team.

The partnership will last for the entirety of 2011 and will see that the playing shirts of the male and female German Handball team, the home and away advertisement boards at Handball match venues, and the VIP lounges of the those venues are adorned with the myBet.com logo.

myBet is a subsidiary company owned by JAXX: a financial holding firm based in the north German city of Kiel. In a press release, a JAXX spokesperson said that the company was pleased to announce the deal, explaining that the “fantastic atmosphere” which “the extremely exciting sport” of handball creates made the German national handball team an ideal sponsreship choice for myBet.com.

Moreover, the JAXX spokesperson said that the myBet.com sportsbook would feature heavily in the company’s future, with JAXX currently seeking to expand now that the German sports gambling market is set to permit private operators.

This decision was agreed in principle by each of the 16 German head of states earlier this month. Under this agreement, private gambling operators will be permitted to operate in the German sports gambling market, yet the current state monopoly on lotteries which fund national projects relating to sports, culture, and charities will remain in place.

William Hill and Playtech Court Case is Ongoing

Since merging with William Hill in one of the largest online gambling deals ever, Playtech — the online casino software provider — has held a 29% share of William Hill Online: a subdivision of William Hill which both Playtech and William Hill run as a joint venture.

Recently, however, talks between Playtech and Ladbrokes have occurred: talks which have raised concerns with William Hill regarding Playtech’s intentions in terms of its stake in William Hill Online.

Acting on these concerns, William Hill has sought, and has been granted, a court injunction which prevents Playtech from selling its William Hill Online stake. The injunction, according to an advisory note which both company’s made available to the stock exchange last week, “will remain in place until a further court hearing is expected to occur in May or shortly thereafter.”

William Hill Online has performed extremely well in 2010, and a great deal of this success can be accredited to, although not solely accredited to, its online sportsbook division: a division in which operating profits and revenue saw a sharp increase.

Playtech, meanwhile, appears to be expanding its services, having recently acquired Euro Partners: a top global affiliate program with over 50,000 members.

Erik Seidel’s NBC Heads Up Victory Takes Him to the All-Time Top-Spot

American Erik Seidel continued the fantastic form which has characterised his 2011 so far as he achieved victory at the 64-player NBC National Heads Up Championship, held at Caesars Palace in his hometown of Las Vegas.

Seidel had made the final of last year’s event, yet the Nevada-born player ultimately lost to Annie Duke. However, Seidel went all the way this time.

Seidel defeated Allen Cunningham, Phil Gordon, Andrew Robi and Jennifer Harman to carve his way to the tournament final and collected the $750,000 first-place prize after beating Chris Moneymaker, a previous 2003 WSOP Main Event champion.

The tournament’s final 16 were each paid, while runner-up Money Maker took home $300k.

Reflecting on his victory, Seidel registered his delight at becoming the tournament champ and commended the high quality of the playing field, saying: “I have competed in the NHPC since 2005 and lost to Annie Duke in the finals at last year’s tournament, so my win today is truly special. It is always exciting to compete against my fellow poker players who showcased great skill on the tables this year.”

Seidel has had extraordinary start to 2011, earning an incredible $4.3 million thus far. Highlights include: two final table appearances at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the $100k High Rollers at the Aussie Millions; victory at the Aussie millions $250K Super High Roller; another victory at the $25k High Roller at the L.A. Poker Classic; and a fifth-place result in the $5k Heads Up in Los Angeles.

This recent NBC Heads Up victory, which NBC will broadcast over six Sundays starting on April 17, has enabled Seidel to reach a total lifetime earnings of $14.6 million: a figure which sees him overtake Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu to take the all-time leading money winner’s list top-spot.

Daniel Tzvetkoff

Daniel Tzvetkoff who run a payment processing company for internet gamblers has been bailed from a national US jail until his trial in June, next year. A magistrate gave the green light for his temporary freedom but his location is unknown at the moment.

A Justice Department representative confirmed that Tzvetkoff was let off the hook with through bail but declined to say anything more about the case.

Tzvetkoff, a 27 year old Australian national could spend the rest of his life in prison after he was charged with illegally processing $550 million dollars to facilitate internet gambling between February 2008 and March last year. He got into trouble with the law after charges of $100 thefts were launched against him by internet gambling companies. He was worth $82 million in the past but believed to have lost all of his fortune now.

Many people believe that he has now changed his mind and decided to supply the needed information required by federal prosecutors after pleading guilty. He will now be guaranteed security and his punishment will be very weak according to Harold Copus who has worked with the FBI for a decade. Prosecutors will now be offered vital information to help nail bigger accomplices. His skills will also be taught to FBI agents.

Tzvetkoff dad, Kim was required to give $1.5 million worth of guarantees for his son’s release 5 months ago. He can now travel to Australia until his trial is due according to his attorney, Tom Engel.

Engel stated that the $1.5 million guarantee was necessary because of the nature of charges against him and the hundreds of millions of dollars involved.

People who visit casinos are expected to adhere to the stringent regulations set for them and when playing baccarat then the regulations only become more severe even though this game is normally played by wealthy and serious gamblers.
A casino defined the game of baccarat as suitable for people in the upper classes of society and they were required to be laid back when playing the game. However security officials of the Caesars Palace Casino seemed to have forgotten about this basic security advice in October 2009.

The security failed to do anything about the customer’s actions and he reportedly repeated them twice after which he was seen dancing in the full glare of the casino’s authorities.
Caesars palace has been punished with a quarter of a million dollars fine by the Nevada Gambling authorities for bringing the game into disrepute and refusing to correct a customer.
The casino seems to be OK with the fine which means the player could have been losing a hell of a lot around the time he was undertaking those actions which are clearly against the game’s regulations.

Many people believe that the major gambling hubs are Las Vegas, Macau and Atlantic City and even though there are not many questions about that, one expert made a few analysis of the influence of Mississippi in the industry.

The expert stated that the income generated from the Mississippi casino owned by Penn National Gaming wasn’t very encouraging but that could have been as a result of many travelers refusing to travel to coastal states in the US as a result of the oil spill caused by BP. Merriman says the state generated 14% percent of its revenue and 12 percent of EBITDA for the gambling company.
The Casino Stocks Index also showed that the Biloxi Casino in Mississippi owned by the Isle of Capri Casinos was also responsible for 7 percent of the gambling firm’s income and 3 percent of its EBITDA. The expert also made mention of casinos in the state owned by Boyd Gaming and Ameristar Casinos.

Merriman started coverage of casinos in the early part of the year after rating Pinnacle Entertainment as a Buy. Ameristar and Boyd were both given Sell ratings by Full House Resorts while Penn, Isle of Capri and Monarch Casino & Resort were both given neutral ratings.

The Isle of Capri was given higher marks to turn it into a Buy rating by Keybanc this morning and its stocks were targeted at $13. The firm said it was expecting more revenue and said it expected the casino owner to post better financial reports than the first quarter of the year next week.

Annie Duke Blasts PokerStars for defending Daniel Negreanu‏

The war of words has heated up once more following last week’s spat between Annie Duke and Daniel Negreanu in which he called her a “f***ing c**t.”
PokerStars tried to respond to the row by saying it appreciated the fact that both players loved poker and liked to express themselves independently. They encouraged Daniel Negreanu to express his views as he deems fit and not let the fact that he’s a member of the PokerStars team shut him up.

Annie Duke was very pissed off when she became aware of the response from PokerStars and she started a media war against PokerStars’ defense of Negreanu even though they were sponsoring him as a PokerStars pro.

Duke questioned in her statement whether PokerStars will equally come to Negreanu’s defense if he made racist comments against Black people, jews or gay people. She blasted them for trying to distance themselves from statements made by Negreanu that were sexually degrading to her.

Annie Duke and Daniel Negreanu have always been at each other’s throat ever since they were both sponsored at UB. Negreanu had a problem with Duke’s site in addition to other personal problems.
He stated in a blog statement a couple of years ago that Duke was a cheat, dishonest as well as a bitch. The pair are still enemies and they don’t look like ending it soon.
