It has always been Las Vegas who kept on leading the world when it came to revenue generation in the gambling industry. A new leader, however, has emerged this month.
On Monday, a new report has shown that Macau’s gambling profit has surged for a whooping 65 percent for the month of January. That is definitely not just a small feat considering that figure can help Macau steal the throne from Las Vegas as the world’s gambling capital.
Macau seems to have been unaffected by the global economic crisis. In contrast, Las Vegas has been struggling for months largely due to its country’s financial situation. CityCenter, the largest construction projects in US history located in the Las Vegas strip that opened on December 16, 2009, is supposed to attract more revenue, but it has not shown any significant figure to date.
Macau has gained more visitors after China lifted some of its travel restrictions on its citizens to the former British colony. China always plays a vital role in the world market as a product or a service supported by the government will be used by more than a billion people.
Las Vegas and Macau are still connected somehow so the recent economic boom in Macau has also generated income for Vegas casinos. Las Vegas Sands, MGM Mirage, and Wynn Resorts all have properties in Macau.
